Geology

Chris spent 30 years as either an academic or a professional geologist and has both a BSc and a PhD in geology. He did many years of consultancy work for oil companies, taught at the American University of Beirut and then, by way of a change, for ten years at Gower College Swansea.

Thanks to his time in Lebanon, he is something of an expert on the geology of Lebanon (just try a Google on ‘geology’ and ‘Lebanon’). He has written widely on the geology of Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean and his papers are still widely cited.

Some of these papers are on the web, and for convenience, on this website (links below). These include an introduction to the geology of Lebanon, The Geology of Lebanon, which is still the best short summary of what is a very poorly known area.
